Hi everyone!
This post will be about lesser known but very fun things to do at the Disney Parks! Although you always want to hit the major attractions at the parks, these unique attractions can prove to be equally as entertaining and worth your time!
Magic Kingdom
In Magic Kingdom, there are many popular attractions, like the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, the Haunted Mansion, and the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. These are all very fun and classic rides that you should definitely make an effort to ride! However, there are lesser known things to do that are, in some cases, equally as fun! First, if you're looking for a fun western attraction, check out the Frontierland Shootin' Arcade! This is an arcade style shooting gallery, where you and/or your child can use a replica rifle to shoot numerous targets. Please note that the rifle doesn't actually shoot any projectiles, making it perfectly safe! This does cost some money; one dollar will get you about 50 shots. Also note that sometimes the rifles malfunction, so do not be afraid to ask the attendant or worker in the nearby gift shop to refund your money and try a different station. Next, you can catch a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad, which consists of four authentic steam trains. This attraction would surely be a point of interest for Walt himself, as he had a passion and love for trains throughout his lifetime. The train stops at Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland. Although it is not a major attraction, it is a fun and relaxing activity to do with the whole family! Lastly, another thing to do is the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, which is an interactive game that allows you to explore the entire park! After signing up, you are given a map and card, so that you can assist the wizard Merlin in defeating the Disney Villains by walking to the various interactive screens throughout the park. There is plenty more to do in Magic Kingdom--including the the major attractions, the shows, dining, shopping, etc., so check it out!
Hollywood Studios
This park by far has an unique attraction within the Magic of Disney Animation Building. It is the Animation Academy, where you get to learn how to draw actual Disney characters from a professional Disney artist. These classes run every half hour or so, and space is limited, so plan to be prompt! In these classes, the Disney artist will choose a Disney character to draw or sometimes will take a vote within the class to decide. Each person has their own station with a pencil and paper to sketch. These classes are great if you love to draw, as you learn drawing techniques and how properly to draw the given Disney character! Don't worry if you don't have any skill with drawing, as these classes are fun anyway just to see the artist working! After the class has concluded, you get to sign your drawing and take it home as a souvenir. Also, sometimes the Disney artist will give away his or her drawing. You can also politely request for it at the end of the class if he or she hasn't already given it away! These are truly great souvenirs to take home from such a unique experience. If there is not a large crowd, then as soon you are done with one class, you can line up for the next class! Additionally, Walt Disney: One Man's Dream is a quality gallery that exhibits the progression of Walt's life and his innovations. There are many neat treasures to see and read about in this gallery. At the conclusion of your tour, there is a short film that documents Walt's life. We strongly suggest this attraction to those who are Disney lovers or would like to learn more about Walt Disney while on your vacation.
